Meet Mary
Oncology Nurse Practitioner and Weight Loss Coach
In 2018, my life changed when I heard a lecture about obesity and cancer and learned my risk of developing uterine cancer quadrupled at my then current body mass index (BMI) of 36--class 2 obesity. When the speaker highlighted that this was a modifiable risk factor, I felt empowered and was determined to figure out weight loss without gimmicks or quick fixes. I knew I had to change my lifestyle by incorporating real food, self-care, and habit changes. I also knew I needed help and fortunately I found a coach to guide me.
Over the course of 8-months, my coach overhauled my diet to lower inflammation and improve my gut health, focused on self-care, and helped me believe that permanent weight loss was possible and that a different, healthier future was available to me. As a result, I released 80 pounds and feel amazing.
I have combined over 30 years of oncology expertise with the knowledge I gained on my personal weight loss journey to help cancer survivors achieve their weight and health goals. The more I study the impact of lifestyle and dietary changes on cancer the more fired up I am to spread the word that better outcomes are achieved with improved health. My goal for the next part of my career is to help as many survivors as possible reach their ideal healthy weight with my coaching.
