For years I was obese and stuck at a weight that bothered me. I’d gained and lost the same 50 lbs at least 5 times since puberty. I had made many attempts to lose weight only to gain it all back plus more. I felt unhealthy and hopeless. As I approached 50, I was frustrated by my excess weight, history of yo-yo dieting and its impact on my health. For a while I had given up hope and thought about embracing my oversized body, but deep down I knew this was not the answer.
I did not think permanent weight loss was possible for me and considered giving up and accepting my 236-pound self.
